The Most Rev. Sean W. Rowe was elected presiding bishop and primate of The Episcopal Church in June 2024 and took office on Nov. 1 for a nine-year term. In this role, he serves as the church’s chief pastor and CEO. Known for his expertise in organizational learning and adaptive change, Rowe is committed to strengthening support for local ministry and mission.
He was ordained bishop of the Episcopal Diocese of Northwestern Pennsylvania in 2007 after serving as rector of St. John’s in Franklin, Pennsylvania, for seven years. From 2014 to 2018, he served as bishop provisional of the Episcopal Diocese of Bethlehem, and from 2019 to 2024, he led a partnership between the Episcopal Dioceses of Northwestern Pennsylvania and Western New York.
Rowe holds a bachelor’s degree in history from Grove City College, a Master of Divinity degree from Virginia Theological Seminary, and a doctorate in organizational learning and leadership from Gannon University. He has served as a leader of many civic and churchwide organizations and governance bodies, and as parliamentarian for the House of Bishops.

1. Tyrone Area Food Bank - Deacon Jack is director of the Tyrone Food Bank and president of the Board. Father Vance Clark, our Rector Emeritus, was a founding member of the food bank and served many years on the board. A number of parishioners volunteer at the Food Bank and Trinity supports the Food Bank with monthly food collections, the annual Souper Bowl of Caring, and a Thanksgiving monetary gift. //www.souperbowl.org/
2. Salvation Army (Altoona) Feeding Program - Trinity Church supports the feeding program through the Deacon’s Discretionary Fund, which is used to provide supplementary courses for the meals. Trinity also provides mittens and scarves in December from our Mitten Tree. Deacon Jack helps cook and serve the meal on Sunday evenings and for the Community Thanksgiving Meal in November provides a team of parishioners to staff the kitchen. //www.salvationarmy.org/
3. Every Life Matters Pregnancy Support Group - Trinity Church participates in ELM’s baby bottle boomerang coin collection and in the past made a grant to ELM from the Deacon’s discretionary funds to purchase a parenting curriculum that is currently being presented in Tyrone and in the Blair County Prison. //the-elm.org/
4. Lions Club Sight Preservation Project - Recycling our used eyeglasses in support of the Lions Club efforts worldwide to provide corrective lenses were needed. //www.lionsclubs.org/EN/404.php
5. Box Tops for Education / Labels for Education - A small project to help the Tyrone Schools. //www.boxtops4education.com/

7. Prison Ministry, Pennsylvania Prison Society - Paperback books, Christmas cookies and visitation for local prisons and the collection of “Paperbacks for Prisoners”. Over 6,000 books have been provided to the Blair County Prison book cart. //www.prisonsociety.org/

10. Housing Association of Tyrone/ Improved Dwellings for Altoona - Deacon Jack is on the Executive Committee of IDA and is on the Board of the Woodrow Wilson Garden facility. He also serves on the Board of Sylvan Acres and Washington Terrace Apartments here in Tyrone. //www.improved-dwellings.org/
11. Joshua House - Trinity Church contributes $25.00 per month in support of Joshua House including their after school and summer programs from the Deacon’s discretionary fund.. //www.joshuahouse.com/
13. Blair North Chapter of the Gideon Society - Trinity Church welcomes a speaker from this international men’s group each fall to hear of their work in spreading the word of God to all the world. //www.gideons.org/?HP=USA&sc_lang=en
14. Episcopal Relief & Development - Through our Advent coin collection, Trinity in 2018, purchased 2 pigs, and 2 goats. The parish also contributed to several disaster relief efforts, most recently, to the diocese of Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands. //www.episcopalrelief.org/
15. Cell Phones for Soldiers - An initiative suggested by a Trinity Youth, this project sends used cell phones to be recycled and the proceeds used to provide prepaid phone cards to service personnel overseas. https://www.cellphonesforsoldiers.com/
16. Deacon’s Discretionary Fund Disbursements - Aid to parishioners and community members.

20. Tyrone Volunteer Church Meals - In partnership with the American Legion, St. Matthew Roman Catholic and the First Presbyterian Church, and Tyrone Area Food Bank, Trinity Church provide a meal to seniors on Tuesday and Friday every 5th week. 21. Operation Our Town - Northern Blair Business Roundtable: Work to facilitate partnerships between community and business in Northern Blair County to fight drug use and crime through proven law enforcement, treatment, and prevention techniques. //www.operationourtown.org/
22. An initiative of a member of the parish, Triniy and several other churches, provide simple hand-sewn Little Dresses, and a collection of socks and underwear, to children in Africa, Mexico, West Virginia, and several Caribbean countries

23. Helping Hands Tyrone - This service agency serves children in foster care in Blair County and Trinity Church provides some of the children with gifts from their “wish” list at Christmas. Items for the agency thrift shop are also provided during the year.
24. The “Soles for Souls” - Trinity collects and provides lightly used shoes to the Shoe Closet, a program of the First Presbyterian Church of Tyrone.
25. Tyrone Community Lenten Lunches - Trinity prepares and serves one of the annual Lenten lunches held at the Church of the Good Shepherd, and Deacon Jack gives the message of the day.
26. Episcopal Home in Shippensburg - During Lent 2018 Trinity provided a gift equal to the cost of 2 weeks stay for a resident at the diocesan home. Deacon Jack is also now on the Board of the Episcopal Home
27. Trinity has begun a grief ministry through Stephens Ministry, a series of letters and booklets on coping with the loss of a loved one has begun. Letter and books are sent to the bereaved at several times during the first year of loss.
